My story
Healthy food should still be the food you can't wait to eat.
Getting real, nutrient-dense food on the table every night shouldn't feel like a second job.
For more than ten years, I did it the hard way. I spent hours every Sunday surrounded by cookbooks and scrolling through recipe sites, trying to find meals that were nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory, gluten-free, free of refined sugar—and, most importantly, delicious enough that my whole family, toddlers included, would actually eat them.
After years of unexplained stomach pain, digestive illness, and a fatigue I kept pushing through, I was diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks my spine and gut. I also discovered I'd been carrying a gut infection that had quietly been stealing my energy and destroying my gut for years. I had two babies, a business, and a body that finally said enough. Food stopped being something I looked forward to.

The system
So I built the system I couldn't find.
What started as a personal mission became a life's work: figuring out how to eat in a way that calms inflammation, supports a sensitive gut, and actually fits into a real, full, busy life.
Seasonal whole foods. Plenty of easy to source protein and vegetables. No gluten or refined sugar. Simple weekly shopping. Approachable recipes for busy nights. And most importantly, food with big flavor—something crispy, creamy, zesty, spicy, tangy or sweet that makes you genuinely excited for dinner.
What I found is that food changes everything. Not in a dramatic, cure-all way, but in the quiet, cumulative way that matters most. Better sleep. Less pain. More energy to show up for the people I love. When I started eating to calm inflammation and support my gut, I felt like myself again for the first time in years — and I knew I had to make it easier for others to do the same.

The cookbook
The book I wished existed when I needed it most.
I spent years building a system to optimize my own health — and then I wrote this cookbook to share it. Not as a side project. As the project — because I'd lived what happens when your body stops cooperating, and I knew there had to be a better way.
Every recipe is high-protein, nutrient dense, and gluten- and sugar-free — built specifically for people with sensitive stomachs, or anyone who's simply eager to put whole food fuel into your body in hopes that it might support your overall health. Real ingredients, real technique, no hour-long prep — because healthy eating has to work on a Tuesday at 5:30 with a toddler at your feet, or it doesn't work at all. That became California Girl: the way my family actually eats today. These are the meals I make at home, the meals my kids ask for, and the recipes that made eating well feel joyful again.
My hope is that this cookbook takes some of the work off your plate while putting something really delicious on it—so you can spend less time figuring out what to feed your family and more time enjoying the people around your table.
Delicious and nourishing aren't two different categories. They never were. Welcome to my kitchen.
